The First Book of Chronicles Chapter 3 of 29

The first Book of Chronicles

Chapter 3

¹ These are the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron; the firstborn Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelite; the second Daniel, by Abigail the Carmelite, ³ the third Absalom, son of Maacah, daughter of King Talmai of Geshur; the fourth Adonijah, son of Haggith; ³ the fifth Shephatiah, by Abital; the sixth Ithream, by his wife Eglah; ⁴ six were born to him in Hebron, where he reigned for seven years and six months. And he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

(First Book of Chronicles Chapter 3 verses 1 to 4)

Oh God, my Father I can only imagine the identity crisis that these children might have had. The crossword puzzle in knowing and accepting who their parents were and the struggle for the throne later on in life. The fatal question of eligibility and inheritance among them. The question of who was the direct son of David, from those born from another mother. I pray for families in which there exists more than one mother or father, that You my God and Father help them to resolve such issues when the time comes Amen.

⁵ These were born to him in Jerusalem; Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon, four by Bath-shua, daughter of Ammiel; ⁶ then ibhar, Elishama, Eliphelet, ⁷ Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, ⁸ Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine. ⁹ All these were David's sons besides the sons of the concubines; and Tamar was their sister.

(First Book of Chronicles Chapter 3 verses 5 to 9)

Dear God my Father, as in the family constellation we all hold different levels of relationship with You our one and only father. Some of us are first born type of people while others have been born later on. I pray that as one of Your sons, I have inherited Your traits and become more like You than my material self Amen.

¹⁰ The descendants of Solomon; Rehoboam, Abijah his son, Asa his son, Jehoshaphat his son, ¹¹ Joram his son, Ahaziah his son, Joash his son, ¹² Amaziah his son, Azariah his son, Jotham his son, ¹³ Ahaz his son, Hezekiah his son, Manasseh his son, ¹⁴ Amon his son, Josiah his son.

(First Book of Chronicles Chapter 3 verses 10 to 13)

Oh God my Father, Solomon claimed all those listed as being his sons, and I have one daughter and I can hardly claim that she is my daughter because soon the Roman Catholic Church will declare that she was born out of wedlock and that even the marriage is as if it never took place which is a great lie.

¹⁴ Amon his son. Josiah his son. ¹⁵ The sons of Josiah; Johanan the firstborn, the second Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, the fourth Shallum

(First Book of Chronicles Chapter 3 verses 14 to 15)

Oh God, my Father, even though You gave Solomon infinite wisdom, he did not use it as he was too. Greatly against Your will, Solomon had many wives. This was something that You did not approve of. I pray that You help me use my God-given intelligence well and for a good purpose to live according to Your will Amen.

¹⁶ The descendants of Jehoiakim; Jeconiah his son, Zedekiah his son; ¹⁷ and the sons of Jeconiah, the captive; Shealtiel his son, ¹⁸ Malchiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar. Jekamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah;

(First Book of Chronicles Chapter 3 verses 16 to 18)

Many times oh God my father we are known and remembered for things that happened to us such as captivity and not for our works of faith. AMEN.

¹⁹ The sons of Pedaiah; Zerubbabel and Shimei; and the sons of Zerubbabel; Meshullam and Hananiah, and Shelomith was their sister, ²⁰ and Hashubah, Ohel, Berechiah, Hasadiah, and Jushabhesed five.

(First Book of Chronicles Chapter 3 verses 19 to 20)

Oh God, my Father as it is written that Pediah means redeemed by the Lord, we are also redeemed by You. I thank You for having redeemed me by Your precious blood. I also thank You for our ancestors, who paved the way for Your birth Amen.

²¹ The sons of Hananiah: Pelatiah and Jeshaiah, his son Rephaiah, his son Shecanaiah. ²² The son of Shecanaiah: Shemaiah. And the sons of Shemaiah: Hattush, Igal, Bariah, Neariah, and Elioenai, Hizkiah, and Azrikan, three. ²⁴ The sons of Elioenai: Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah and Anani, seven.

(First Book of Chronicles Chapter 3 verses 21 to 24)

Oh God, my Father Hananiah apparently was a priest and this was his family. On reflecting I agree that priests are to be given the opportunity of being married. They would serve as role models for us to follow instead of making scandals among your people Amen.

Oh God, my Father I would like to end this meditation on the third chapter of the first book of Chronicles with the following prayer:

Oh God, my father, today I raise before You all the nations of the world. We are Your people and You are our Father. I pray that You continue to have mercy on us. Forgive us and keep on loving us for we are weak in spirit and prone to sin, however, even though we sin against You we still love You Amen.
